San Diego police say an 18-year-old used a rented U-Haul pickup to do donuts and burnouts at an intersection in Scripps Ranch, damaging the roadway and leaving the city with an estimated $5153 repair bill. The driver was arrested on charges including felony vandalism, exhibition of speed, and reckless driving.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 8th, at Scripps Ranch Court and Scripps Ranch Boulevard, where officers spotted the U-Haul taking part in a sideshow. Video released by the department shows the white Chevrolet Silverado with U-Haul branding spinning through the intersection, while spectators stand nearby.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the driver was arrested and faces multiple charges. The department’s video displays the phrase “three felony charges,” but its written statement specifically identifies only the vandalism allegation as a felony.

Officials say the same individual had already caught their attention after posting videos that allegedly showed him participating in sideshows and speed contests elsewhere around San Diego. One clip appears to show a Ford Mustang weaving down the painted lane divider of a busy freeway, squeezing between surrounding traffic with very little room to spare.
Police apparently call this behavior “white lining,” which is essentially threading between cars while forcing everyone else on the road to react. They say they have connected the suspect to several prior incidents, and those investigations remain active, meaning additional charges are possible.
The case serves as a reminder that posting reckless-driving footage online may earn views, but it can also hand investigators a remarkably useful evidence reel. In this instance, the suspect’s online activity helped police connect him to multiple incidents, potentially leading to further charges.

For people who engage in such behavior, the consequences can be severe, affecting not only their own lives but also the lives of others on the road.
The investigation into the suspect’s activities is ongoing, and officials may pursue additional charges as more evidence comes to light.
It will be important to watch for any developments or updates from the San Diego Police Department.
