Proton reported selling 19,465 units in September 2026, slightly down from August but pushing its year-to-date total to 160,886 units. That figure already exceeds the company’s full-year 2025 sales volume of 157,976 units, with the final quarter still to come.
The Saga sedan remains Proton’s top volume model, selling 8,701 units in September and reaching 68,237 units for the year. This represents a 34.5% increase compared to 2025 levels. Alongside the sedan, the S70 added 2,756 units in September, bringing its year-to-date total to 20,709 units. The model is expected to grow rapidly following the launch of a naturally aspirated variant last month.
In the SUV segment, the X50 maintained its lead in the B-segment category with 1,995 units sold in September, contributing to a year-to-date total of 20,163 units. The larger X90 sold 430 units in September, surpassing its own 2025 full-year performance with 3,250 units sold so far in 2026.
Electric vehicle sales continue to gain traction. Proton’s eMas range, comprising the eMas 5, eMas 7, and eMas 7 PHEV, crossed the 40,000-unit milestone in September, 21 months after the eMas 7 launched in December 2024. These vehicles now account for 19.3% of Proton’s total sales, approaching the Malaysian government’s 2030 target of 20% for xEV vehicles.
The automaker also recorded 1,311 units in export sales for September, bringing the year-to-date total to 7,370 units.
Looking beyond Malaysia, Proton deputy CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa stated, “As the country’s leading exporter of vehicles, Proton intends to lead the way to make Malaysia a centre of production for regional and global markets.” He added that investments in production capacity, manpower upskilling, and technology, alongside the Automotive High Tech Valley initiative, will drive further growth in the near future.
