Jetour refreshes G700 SUV for Australian off-road market - off-road suv
Jetour’s G700 arrives in Australia as a plug-in hybrid SUV designed for rugged terrain and premium off-road capabilities.

Jetour’s G700, a large plug-in hybrid off-road SUV, has received updates just months after its China launch, demonstrating the Chinese automaker’s commitment to entering Australia’s expanding market for premium off-road vehicles. The revised version now includes styling refinements and advanced driver-assist technology, positioning it to challenge competitors such as the Denza B8 and GWM Tank 500 PHEV upon its arrival in the country.

Design and technology enhancements

The updated G700 features a more aggressive front grille, restyled wheels, and body-colored bumpers and side skirts, creating a sharper aesthetic. These design changes were first revealed earlier in the year at the Beijing Auto Show. The most significant technical upgrade is Huawei’s Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 5, an advanced safety and driver-assist system that integrates radar, sensors, and LiDAR to enable automated driving functions. Despite these improvements, the vehicle’s core mechanical structure remains unchanged.

The powertrain configuration pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating 155kW and 340Nm with front and rear electric motors producing 210kW/360Nm and 300kW/435Nm, respectively. Combined, the system delivers 665kW and 1,135Nm, supported by an 800V electrical architecture. Chinese buyers can select between a 34.13kWh lithium iron phosphate battery (offering an electric range of 150km) or a 59.45kWh ternary lithium pack (extending electric range to 260km).

Off-road and luxury specifications

Jetour positions the G700 as a capable off-road vehicle, equipping it with standard three differential locks, full-time four-wheel drive, and selectable terrain modes. The SUV can ford depths of up to 900mm, and higher trims include air suspension and continuous damping control. While most configurations seat five passengers, a three-row layout is available for larger groups or families.

Inside, the cabin features a 35.4-inch panoramic digital display behind the steering wheel, accompanied by a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Luxury elements include leather or Nappa leather upholstery, 12- to 20-speaker audio systems, and optional amenities such as a sterilizing refrigerated compartment and an intelligent fragrance system. These refinements reinforce the model’s appeal to buyers seeking both rugged capability and high-end comfort.

Jetour has officially confirmed the G700’s launch in Australia, though initial timelines suggested a second-half 2027 introduction. The automaker’s Globalization 3.0 strategy focuses on developing high-end vehicles, and the G700—alongside its dual-cab F700 ute—represents a shift toward rugged, body-on-frame designs under the Zongheng sub-brand. Unlike earlier Jetour models, which relied on unibody construction, these new vehicles prioritize off-road performance.

Market expansion and local strategy

The G700 has already achieved strong sales, with over 30,000 units sold in its first 11 months, establishing it as the top-selling Chinese luxury SUV in markets such as Saudi Arabia and Mexico. Jetour’s entry into Australia follows the planned 2027 launches of its T1 model. However, Jetour will maintain a separate distribution network from the others.
