Aston Martin Unveils Rare Valhalla Spider - valhalla spider
Fewer than 250 Valhalla Spider units will be produced.

Aston Martin unveiled its quickest open-top model, the Valhalla Spider, claiming a top speed of 217 mph and a sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds. The powertrain delivers more than 1,000 bhp, and the manufacturer announced that fewer than 250 units will be produced, making the car exceptionally rare.

The standard roof folds in three sections and disappears into storage bins located in the vehicle’s sills. With the roof fitted, the maximum speed drops to 124 mph, but buyers can elect an optional carbon-fibre lid that restores the full 217-mph capability.

Design and Engineering

Aston Martin explained that the base Valhalla provided a solid foundation, so only modest mechanical changes were required to create the Spider variant. Most alterations were executed on a laptop, and the only physical modification involved raising the snorkel intake by 35 mm to guarantee adequate airflow for the engine.

Seat and Door Configuration

The Spider will represent roughly one-quarter of the Valhalla’s planned 999-unit production run. That allocation translates to about 250 vehicles. Most of these units have already been committed to customers, indicating strong demand for the open-top model. Spider production will be limited to ensure exclusivity.

Specifications and Performance

The Spider shares its core specifications with the coupe, featuring the same twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 paired with dual electric motors. Together they generate 1,064 bhp and 811 lb-ft of torque. Although the open-top body adds roughly 25 kg compared with the coupe, the model still produces about 600 kg of downforce and repeats the 2.5-second 0-62 mph sprint.

Pricing for the Spider is expected to begin near £1.3 million, a noticeable increase over the £935,000 price tag of the coupe. Despite the steep cost, a large portion of the limited run has already been allocated to customers, showing the model’s high demand.

When measured against the Ferrari 849 Testarossa Spider, the Aston Martin version is almost three times as expensive. Nevertheless, for purchasers with the necessary means, the vehicle combines blistering speed, distinctive styling, and a high level of luxury, thanks to its potent engine, sophisticated aerodynamics, and sleek exterior design.
