A.J. Foyt Racing Signs Rookie of the Year Dennis Hauger - dennis hauger
Hauger brings an extensive resume to the team, having previously won the 2021 FIA Formula 3 championship.

A.J. Foyt Racing has signed Norwegian driver Dennis Hauger to a multi-year deal for the 2027 IndyCar season. Hauger, 23, will pilot the No. 14 Homes For Our Troops Chevrolet, taking over the seat previously occupied by Santino Ferrucci. The announcement comes shortly after Hauger was named the 2026 IndyCar Rookie of the Year.

A Fast Rise to the Top

Hauger brings an extensive resume to the team, having previously won the 2021 FIA Formula 3 championship. He also claimed the 2019 Italian Formula 4 title and secured five victories in Formula 2. Before moving to IndyCar, he raced in the Red Bull Junior Team.

The racer relocated from Norway to the United States in 2025 and quickly adapted to the new environment. He won the IndyNXT by Firestone Series crown in his rookie year and moved up to a full-time NTT IndyCar Series ride with Dale Coyne Racing through Andretti Global. That performance put him on the radar of A.J. Foyt Racing Team President Larry Foyt.

“Dennis has accomplished a lot for someone who is only 23,” Foyt said. “Every time he’s moved into something new, he’s adapted quickly and he’s won. Coming over here and winning in IndyNXT as a rookie certainly got everyone’s attention, and then we watched how he progressed through his rookie season in IndyCar.”

Looking Ahead

Hauger expressed excitement about joining the organization his legendary father founded in 1965. He noted that he has had “very good conversations” with Larry Foyt regarding the team’s direction.

“This team has so much history in this sport, but what intrigues me even more was hearing about the future and what they’re building now,” Hauger said. “I want to work hard with everyone there and see how far we can take it.”

The move signals a significant shift in the driver market for 2027. A.J. Foyt Racing did not renew the contract of rookie Caio Collet. Ferrucci remains in the mix for the team, though his status with the organization is reportedly up in the air. Collet joins Christian Lundgaard and Nolan Siegel as drivers left unsigned as the season approaches its conclusion.
